“ Food and nature hold the keys to a certain nostalgia for me. They possess the power to conjure up warm emotions and stir treasured memories from within.

Having grown up and spent time living in diverse parts of the world, my memories are a rich tapestry woven from different cultures, all intertwined with tender moments around nature and food. There are the days of sun-kissed cherry picking in California, the picnics with ethereal cherry blossom confetti in Tokyo, seashell collecting on the beaches of Normandy, and family camping trips with s’mores amid the golden autumn leaves in Korea.

This book and the recipes it contains draw inspiration from these carefree, happy moments I’ve spent in nature. Each chapter follows through the seasons, reflecting what I associate with each. From the buzz of bees and blossoms of spring to the diverse palette of summer fruits, darting fish, and shells of summer, to the falling leaves and mushrooms of autumn, each recipe tells a story of nature through my eyes.

My wish is that this book, as it encapsulates these stories, will transport you to your own joyous, marshmallow-soft and sweet memories, so you can recreate those moments around your own table.

Most of the recipes you’ll find here evoke reminiscences of mine. From apple pie to melon pan (bread) and kimchi fried rice, these are the dishes I grew up with and now cook with my family and friends. After all, the best recipe, I believe, is one that you and your loved ones enjoy. If you already have a favorite recipe—your grandmother’s divine chocolate tart or your father’s signature pizza dough I encourage you to stay true to it. My greatest joy would be to know that these recipes inspired you to add a touch of art or visual flair to your own nostalgic flavors, or perhaps help you create new, wonderful memories to be cherished in the years to come.

I hope that by the end of this journey, you’ll have your very own table, imbued with your personal touches and memories. La Table by [Your Name]: make it uniquely yours. ”
